Equity & Inclusion

NCURA'S COMMITMENT TO DIVERITY, EQUITY, AND INCLUSION

The National Council of University Research Administrators (NCURA) recognizes, values, and celebrates diversity of persons, skills, and experiences in its mission to advance the profession of research administration. Thus, NCURA is committed to building and maintaining a diverse membership and a culture of inclusion. Every member of NCURA has a right, without regard to gender, race, ethnicity, age, religion, social class, sexual orientation, ability, personality, functional experience, or background, to fair and respectful treatment, equal access to resources to support professional growth, and equitable opportunities to contribute to NCURA’s success.

Region IV DEI Committee Mission and Vision

The mission of the NCURA Region IV Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee is to support our members, current and potential, through the creation of actionable, equitable processes and opportunities that will enable all to learn and grow.

Region IV DEI Activation Committee

Code of Ethics

The Region IV DEI committee consists of two collaborative and complimentary areas. The Steering Committee is charged with directing the vision and future direction of DEI best practices within the region, and meet monthly. The Activation Committee is a community of practice of interested individuals sharing knowledge and gaining insight into best practices, which they will then share with their home institutions and with the region at yard. The Activation Committee participates in discussions, learning sessions and seminars, and creates a shared space of community for all Region IV members.

NCURA Region IV DEI committee volunteers are committed to upholding the highest ethical standards through personal and professional accountability and integrity. This code of ethics is a living document and will be amended and adopted, as we learn and grow with our mission. The following provides the framework that anchors our committee’s code of ethics:

  • Accessibility = Options

  • Address the issue, not the person

  • Empathy = listening, perspective, receptivity, and understanding

  • Exercise Beneficence

  • Intent ≠ Impact

  • Lean into discomfort

  • Provide a growth-minded learning environment

  • Respect and Support Neurodiversity

  • Restorative justice = Repair the harm

  • Say what you mean, mean what you say

  • What we say here stays here, what we learn here leaves here
