Honors and Awards

Every year, the Awards Committee invites your participation in selecting and recognizing members and/or programs within Region IV deserving of special recognition in the categories shown below. Each award recipient receives a commemorative plaque and is publicly recognized.

The Awards Committee invites you to nominate someone for a Region IV recognition award!

Region IV recognizes service through four distinct recognition awards:

Distinguished Service Award
Kevin Reed Outstanding New Professional Award
Meritorious Contributions Award
Special Merit and Distinction Award

Region IV also provides Travel Awards to attend the Region IV Spring Meeting or the NCURA Annual Meeting:

Region IV Meeting Travel Award
National Annual Meeting Travel Award
John Philipps Region IV Travel Award (for current MOO Mentees only)

Nominate yourself or someone today! The nomination form can be found here. Make sure to check the materials required and upload all documentation. All nominations must include endorsements as specified in the criteria. All nominations require a 300-500 word statement of the nominee's eligibility and merit. CV/resume and letters of support as needed are to be uploaded at this time as well.

Travel awardees agree that by applying for a travel award, they will stay at the conference hotel if awarded.

The deadline for all nominations is January 15, 2026

Application Process

The nomination process is simple:

Review the criteria for each category, including an overview of the categories and the criteria and nomination instructions for each category.
Identify someone whom you believe deserves one of the awards or honors.
Self-nominations are accepted – and encouraged – for all awards except the Meritorious Contribution Award.
Complete and submit the Nomination Form and materials needed

Honors

for those who have shown continuing and long-term contributions to NCURA Region IV and research administration.

Distinguished Service Award

for those who have demonstrated willingness to offer their abilities, time, commitment, and enthusiasm to NCURA Region IV.

Kevin Reed Outstanding New Professional Award

for those who have developed and implemented an innovative program that significantly enhanced the research atmosphere on a campus; can include team or office efforts, as well as those of a single individual.

Meritorious Contributions Award

for contributions to NCURA Region IV that are above and beyond “business as usual,” inclusive of unique and invaluable contribution to the vitality and enduring legacy of the organization.

Special Merit and Distinction

Travel Awards

Region IV Meeting Travel Award

Awardees will receive up to $1,500 toward travel expenses associated with attending the Region IV spring meeting, based on financial need and benefit to the applicant/NCURA. Registration fees and per diem are not included.

National Annual Meeting Travel Award

Awardees will receive up to $2,000 toward travel expenses associated with attending the National meeting; based on financial need and benefit to the applicant/NCURA. Registration fees and per diem are not included.

John Philipps Region IV Travel Award

Awardees will receive up to $1,500 toward travel expenses associated with attending the Region IV Spring Meeting. Registration fees and per diem are not included.
