NCURA Region IV 2018 Spring Meeting
April 15 – April 18, 2018
Nourishing Investigation, Fueling Discovery, Growing the Profession
Nourish. Discover. Grow. Join us in Des Moines for our 2018 spring meeting! The Midwest is well-known as the heartland of America and Iowa certainly helps sustains this tradition. Iowa is number one in egg production, ranks first in soybean, hog, and corn production and is home to five Nobel Prize winners! Make history with us as we bring our regional meeting to this state for the first time ever. We look forward to seeing you there!
Keynote Address
We welcome Dr. Terry Wahls, a clinical professor of medicine at the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine. Dr. Wahls has an incredible story of self-healing through proven researched method based on mitochondria, diet, and multiple sclerosis. She has received funding from Direct MS of Canada and the National Multiple Sclerosis Society of America and greatly appreciates the support she receives from her very own research administrators each and every day.
New This Year... Book Club!
This year we will host a Region IV book club! It will occur during one of the regularly scheduled concurrent sessions. If you are interested in joining us, pick up a copy of The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks by Rebecca Skloot. It is a compelling read that intertwines themes of privilege and power with scientific exploration resulting in critical insight into the world of human subjects and IRB protocols.
More About the Meeting!
The Spring Meeting is a great opportunity for professional development, networking, and fun! Meeting attendees will choose from a wide range of concurrent sessions during the two and a half days of regular conference scheduling on Monday through Wednesday, April 16-18. Topics covered include pre-award, post-award, research compliance, effort reporting, and more. Optional special interest workshops will be held on Sunday, April 15. These sessions provide great supplemental information to the regular program, as well as ideal stand-alone learning opportunities for those who just can't be away from their office during the week.
