Thinking about presenting at the Region IV Spring Meeting in Ann Arbor?
Here’s some information on the different types of presentations.
Presentation Type
- Concurrent Session: A formal presentation on a particular topic. Sessions are done in a presentation style with a PowerPoint. These sessions range in length from 1 to 1.5 hours and can have multiple presenters.
- Discussion Group: An informative discussion on a particular topic. Topics are generally an overview or a broad dialogue, are often less structured, and open to attendees' input. Discussions should usually have no more than two facilitators.
- Workshop: These sessions are half-day (3.5 hour) or full-day (7 hour) sessions on Sunday. Workshops are often a deep dive into a particular topic or area of focus and feature a PowerPoint presentation and handouts. Examples of workshops might be pre- or post-award basics.
- Spark Session: Spark sessions are 10-15 minutes long. These are short, high-energy sessions that inform attendees about a specific topic or idea.
- Concepts Expo Poster: Poster presentations address ideas and practical solutions to everyday problems in research administration. Poster concepts may be viewed as “mini-topics” as is a fantastic opportunity for sharing ideas and new initiatives with interested colleagues. Concepts are presented visually on a 36”x48” poster display. Poster presenters have opportunity to win prizes for participating in the Concepts Expo! All presenters will be entered into a drawing to win a prize gift card just for participating. There is also a prize awarded most creative poster as voted by expo attendees. More info on the Concepts Expo will be available soon.
